Pantnagar to have international level airport soon: Ajay Bhatt

The Union minister of State for Defence and Tourism, Ajay Bhatt held a meeting with officials of the Pantnagar airport authority and Udham Singh Nagar district administration regarding plans for developing the Pantnagar airport to international standards. The minister said that formalities for acquiring land for expansion of the airport will be completed soon. He said that at present about 22 to 25 acres of land is needed for expansion of the Pantnagar airport.

The formalities for this purpose will be completed soon and after that the work of expansion of the airport will pick up pace. At the same time, effort is also being undertaken to fulfill the standards related to developing an international level airport. The minister said that he himself is in touch with the Union Civil Aviation minister on this subject and that soon efforts to develop Pantnagar airport to international level will succeed.

Bhatt said that the Pantnagar airport is very important for tourism and air connectivity. Considering this, necessary steps must be taken to develop it to international standards. Bhatt said that after the last meeting he had held on this subject a team of officials concerned had inspected the airport and along with district administration officials, a report had been prepared. After the report is received in the near future, better facilities will be made in the airport for visibility and feasibility.

The minister further said that the procedure for expansion of the airport has been taken note of by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the chief secretary. MLA Shiv Arora, district magistrate Yugal Kishore Pant, airport director Sumit Saxena and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
