Enables live audio-video calls in remote & border no-signal areas

In order to facilitate communication in remote and border areas where even mobile phone signals are absent, Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to launch the Quick Deployable Antenna (QDA) system. The system installed by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was inaugurated by chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat who used the system to interact with residents of remote areas including Malari in Chamoli district, Gunji in Pithoragarh and Tyuni in Dehradun. Appreciating the work of the SDRF, Rawat the QDA system will be a savior during any disaster scenario and have beneficial long term effects.

In the past, the state government had distributed 248 satellite phones in all districts for areas weak from the communication point of view. To enhance the effort to link such remote and border areas with the mainstream, the SDRF procured the QDA system for the purpose, making Uttarakhand the first state to do so. Presently, only the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and paramilitary forces use this system.

The QDA is the latest technology to facilitate communication with no-signal areas. It facilitates video conferencing the data transfer using 1.2 metre QDA antenna terminal and 1.2 metre static antenna terminal. This helps in establishing satellite based communication with all VSAT terminals. Basically, in an area bereft of any other means of communication, this technology enables immediate satellite link for live audio-video call facility.
