In the last 10 days only 2.84 lakh doses were administered; the dept now needs to give 75 K doses in a day to reach the target by Dec 31

The slow pace of vaccination in Uttarakhand has made it very difficult to achieve the 100 per cent vaccination target in time. The state government has taken a target to administer both doses of vaccine to its entire adult population before December 31. In the last 10 days the health department has administered only 28000 doses on an average in a day which means that to achieve the target 75000 doses should be administered in a day for next 50 days.

The data released by Social Development for Communities (SDC) foundation shows that the pace of vaccination has slackened in the last 50 days.

It should be that a total of 2,84,611 doses were administered from  November 2 to 11. In the preceding 10 days period (October 23 to November 1) a total of 3,80,917 doses were administered. The data shows that a total of 75,03,067 people have been administered the first dose while 42,05,158 have received both shots of the vaccine till November 11. It means that a total of 1,17,08,225 vaccine doses have been administered.

As per the data of state health department a total of 77,29,466 people are needed to be vaccinated in the state which means that the department has a target of 1,54,58,932 vaccine shots.

The Founder of SDC foundation, Anoop Nautiyal said that in the early phase the vaccination drive was proceeding at a good pace due to which the per day target was reducing but now this target is increasing. He said that only 50 days are now left to complete the target and for it the department has to vaccinate 75,014 people daily. This required average was 67,255 doses on November 1. He said that the government and the state health department should increase the pace of the vaccination so that the target is achieved on time.
