The letter of former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to BJP national president stating that he is not interested in contesting the ensuing assembly election has given a the Congress another reason to hit at the BJP. The Congress media in-charge of Garhwal region Garima Dasauni said that wary of the imminent loss in the elections the BJP leaders are surrendering before the battle. She said that Rawat’s letter to the BJP national president JP Nadda in which he is expressing his wish to refrain from contesting the Assembly elections shows the lava that is simmering inside the BJP which in coming days would explode as a volcano.  She said that the former CM is upset at the continued neglect he is experiencing in the party and the series of decisions taken by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami which reversed his earlier decisions. Dasauni said that it is apparent that the BJP leaders have seen the writing on the wall and surrendered even before the start of the battle. She said that the reason mentioned by Rawat for not contesting the elections is hard to digest. “Rawat in his letter has said that he wants to work  for the party so he should not be fielded in the election. The situation is different from what he claims. Trivendra Singh Rawat is not so popular that he can lead the party to victory on his own,’’ she said.

The Congress leader added that the statement of Rawat also reflects that there is a dearth of leaders in BJP who can lead the party and help others to contest because all the leaders are considering themselves as contestants.
