200 pilgrims rescued near Purnagiri temple

The police rescued about 200 tourists and pilgrims who were stranded when water level in a rivulet rose suddenly near the famous Purnagiri temple in Tanakpur area of the district. These visitors ignored the warning of heavy rainfall issued by the state government and visited the temple. The police said that many pilgrims took route of the forest and came to the temple but were stranded when the water level in the Batan rivulet. Some of them called the police after which a rescue operation was started. Led by Sub Inspector Devendra Singh Manral, the in-charge of Thuligad police post, the police team ensured safety of the pilgrims.
