Monsoon threat- U’khand Govt cancels leaves of employees

In view of the prevailing monsoon in the State and the threat of natural disaster posed by it, the Uttarakhand government has cancelled leaves of all its employees till September 30.

On the directive of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief secretary of Uttarakhand, S S Sandhu issued an order on Monday to all Additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries, divisional commissioners, district magistrates and all head of the departments that they should not sanction leaves of the employees till September 30. However in exceptional cases, the leaves of the employees can be sanctioned but the leave approving officer must ensure that his/ her replacement during the period of the leave.

The CS said that during the monsoon period the state is affected by incidences of flood, excessive rains, cloud bursts and landslides which affect the day to day activities and cause damage to life and property. The CS said that it has come to his notice in the review meetings that some employees take long leaves which hinders the relief and rescue operations during the time of natural disasters.
