MCD to set up camps for property tax submission from today

The tax section of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will start setting up camps in various wards of the city to maximise the recovery of property tax from Wednesday. Recently, mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ directed the tax superintendents and other senior officials to set up camps to make the tax submission process easy for locals which will also help in maximising the revenue of property tax.

Considering this, the tax section has planned to set up eight camps from September 1 to September 14 in eight different locations of the city. The municipal tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly said that the tax recovery rate has decreased since the pandemic had hit the State. Since people still prefer to deposit the property tax physically rather than using online mode, MCD has decided to set up camps from Wednesday in eight different locations. In the initial phase, the camps will be set up at Rajeshwar Nagar and Durga Temple in Sahastradhara Road, Vasant Vihar Society Club, Dobhalwala, Raja Road, Ballupur, Kargi and Kedarpur from September 1 to September 14, informed Painuly. He said, “Seven tax inspectors will manage and monitor the camps in their respective areas in the initial phase and more camps will be organised as per the need and demand of public or councillors in the city.”

The officials appealed to locals to deposit the tax this month to get the 20 per cent rebate as the mayor has recently announced that the period of the rebate will not be extended further this time. They also informed that those who are incapable of submitting property tax like senior citizens or differently-abled people can also approach tax inspectors for tax submission in their homes.
