Will suspend Saraswat if the allegations are found to be true: Mahara

The involvement of State general secretary (organisation) of Congress, Vijay Saraswat in a land scam in Dehradun has created an uncomfortable situation for the State unit of the party. Latching on to the opportunity, the media in-charge of Uttarakhand BJP, Manveer Chauhan said that the incident has exposed the real face of the Congress party which levels every type of allegation on others. He said that the senior leader of the Congress party has been found involved in the scam and investigation showed that money was transferred into his bank account. He added that the Congress leaders have always remained involved in the mining and liquor business.

Reacting to the development the Congress has averred that action will be taken against Saraswat if the allegation of involvement in land scam is found correct. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Karan Mahara told The Pioneer that he personally would meet the Dehradun senior superintendent of police on Saturday regarding the issue. He said that the party would get the case examined and if there is any substance in the charge then action will be initiated against him.

Mahara added that the Congress will seek a reply from the State government if the allegation is found baseless. He said that no action has been taken by the BJP against the minister found involved in thrashing a man on the road even though an FIR has been registered against him. Mahara said that unlike BJP, the Congress is a disciplined organisation which believes in transparency. The PCC president reiterated that the party would not hesitate to take strict action on Saraswat if the allegation is found to be true.
