In sad news for Uttarakhand, Ruchin Rawat from Gairsain in Chamoli district was one of the five jawans killed in encounter between the Indian army and the terrorists in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. Ruchin was a resident of Kunigad village in Gairsain block. He was deployed in Udhampur unit of the Indian army. He was a 9th para commando. He is survived by his elderly parents, wife and four-year-old child. It is learnt that he was one of the five army men killed in terrorists-triggered explosion in the dense forest in Kandi area of Rajouri district. When the combing operation was going on the terrorists in retaliation triggered the blast. While two jawans were killed on the spot five others were injured. The injured were rushed to the Command Hospital in Udhampur. Three of the injured succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
