Covid-19 vaccination: 1666 healthcare workers receive II dose

No death, 47 new cases of Covid-19 reported on Monday

The health care workers who were administered vaccines on the first day of the vaccination drive (January 16) were given the second dose of the vaccine on Monday. The second dose was given to 1666 healthcare workers in the state which included the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Dr Ravikant and the Principal of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Dr Ashutosh Sayana. Apart from them a total of 6376 healthcare and frontline workers were given the first shot of the vaccine. The in charge of the state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 4651 frontline workers and 1725 health care workers were vaccinated with the first dose on Monday. A total of 120641 beneficiaries have so far received the vaccine jabs.

In Haridwar 366 health workers were given the second shot of vaccine while in Udham Singh Nagar 370, Dehradun 229, Uttarkashi 190, Rudraprayag 160 and Tehri 153 workers were given a second dose of the vaccine.

The authorities administered the first dose of vaccine to 1064 frontline workers in Dehradun, 1017 in Haridwar, 548 in Pithoragarh and 541 in Champawat on Monday.

Meanwhile the number of patients of Covid-19 increased to 96867 in the state on Monday with the state health department reporting 47 fresh cases of the disease. On a positive note no death from the disease was reported in the state on Monday. A total of 1680 patients have so far succumbed to Covid-19 in Uttarakhand.

The authorities discharged 99 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery on Monday. A total of 93160 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far and the recovery percentage is now at 96.17. 

The authorities reported 17 new patients of the disease from Dehradun, 16 from Haridwar, eight from Nainital, five from Chamoli and one from Udham Singh Nagar on Monday.

 The state now has only 615 active patients of the disease. Haridwar district is at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 149 patients. Nainital has 101, Almora 76, Dehradun 52, Udham Singh Nagar 42, Pithoragarh 34, Bageshwar 32, Pauri 31, Chamoli 28, Tehri 24, Rudraprayag 17, Champawat 16 and Uttarkashi 13 active cases of the disease.
