Taking a dig at the visits of Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to the State, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that he has not uttered a single word about the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Interacting with media persons at the state headquarters of the Congress party on Friday, he said that no one expects a leader like Koshyari or BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya to follow ethics and protocol. He said that the objective of the BJP leaders is only ensuring that their party comes to power and for this they are ready to put humanity at stake. Mahara said that the economy of the country is sinking but no leader of the BJP has expressed concern on the issue and on the top of it the Finance minister of the country gives a statement- “the rupee is not sliding but the dollar is getting strengthened”. He said that sensitivity of the BJP leaders can be understood from the fact that no leader expressed concern about the Ankita Bhandari murder and even its vocal women leaders were noncommittal. Mahara said that only one leader expressed concern and she was expelled from the party.

On the reported plan of the State government to hold the upcoming winter session of Assembly in  Gairsain, the PCC president said that the session should be held in Dehradun. He said that holding the winter session in Gairsain  without adequate preparations would cause problems to the police and other personnel who would suffer from extreme cold. Mahara demanded that the State government should make Gairsain the permanent capital of Uttarakhand.
