Resin factory catches fire in Garud

A fire broke out in the Riddhi-Siddhi resin factory in the Garud Tehsil of Bageshwar district on Thursday night. Drums containing resin and equipment were burnt in the fire. The Fire Services arrived at the site on being informed about the fire and worked hard to bring the fire under control.

The factor owner has claimed that the fire caused damage worth crores of rupees. According to the local officials, the fire broke out past midnight reportedly due to a short circuit. The people living nearby informed the police and fire services about the inferno at about 1:30 AM. Firefighters worked hard and managed to bring the fire under control by 3:30 AM. The sub divisional magistrate Rajkumar Pandey took stock of the incident on Friday and also spoke to the factory owner. The factory owner Hira Singh Bhakuni has claimed a loss of Rs 4.5 crore due to the accident. There was no human casualty in the accident though machines and other materials in the factory were burnt to ashes. The administration has sent the investigation report of the incident to the district administration. The cause of the incident is being investigated. Pandey said that about 80 drums of resin were also burnt in the fire. The matter is under investigation and details will be clear after the probe, he added.
