The governor lieutenant general (retd) presided over the Republic Day programme celebrated with enthusiasm on Parade Ground here on Thursday. After the ceremonial hoisting of the flag, the event was marked by march past by personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, police, Provincial Armed Constabulary , Prantiya Rakshak Dal and cadets of the National Cadet Corps. Tableaux by various departments and presentations by cultural troupes and school children were also staged on the occasion.
Singh along with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled the Uttarakhand police vision document on the occasion. A number of police personnel were also awarded for commendable service on the occasion. According special value to a cricketer, two employees of Haryana Roadways Sushil Kumar and Paramjit Nayan along with two workers of a sugar mill Nishu and Rajat were awarded Rs one lakh each along with citation according to an earlier announcement made by Dhami for their role in rescuing and helping cricketer Rishabh Pant after his accident. The police department also presented separate rewards to these persons.
