Taking note of the swelling number of Shiv devotees thronging the sacred city Haridwar to collect Ganga jal during the Kanwad Yatra, the Haridwar district magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal has issued an order, saying that all the government and private schools from Class 1 to 12 along with all the anganwadi and min-anganwadi centres would remain closed from July 10 to 17. This order is mainly attributed to the repeated road closure and diversion on several routes in the district due to the spiraling number of devotees. The district administration and police are of the view that this time, the number of kanwadiyas would cross the figure of five crore.
