Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a video conference with chief ministers of all states regarding effective control on Covid-19. Attending the meeting, Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said all trust that the experts will soon be able to make the vaccine. An action plan is being drafted for the priorities to be set at the level of the state government. He told the PM that the Kumbh Mela is to be organised in Haridwar from January to April 2021. Considering the large number of officials, employees, police force and health workers who will be deputed to work here, he requested that the Kumbh Mela be taken into account when considering the availability of vaccine for Uttarakhand.

Earlier, the PM said that Covid is under control to a considerable extent due to organised efforts of the Central and State governments. Due to the efforts of all involved, today there is a very large network for tasks from testing to treatment. All have considerable experience related to Covid-19 management. All the chief ministers should definitely share their experience so that a concrete plan can be drafted for complete control on Covid. Modi further said that though Covid has been brought under control in India, it is necessary to observe full alertness. “From the sea of disaster we have come to the shore and it should be borne in mind that there should be no carelessness now. Awareness campaigns for protection from Covid should be conducted consistently. We will have to keep the positivity rate at less than five per cent and lay special focus on RT-PCR test. Experts are consistently working on the Covid vaccine. It will be administered to all but the state government should also give their suggestions on what the priorities will be in the initial stage,” said the PM.

Speaking in the meeting, the CM said that a steering committee has been formed at the state level for vaccination. At the district level, task force has been formed and consistent meetings are being held. The Union Home minister Amit Shah, Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Finance minister Nimrla Sitharaman, chief ministers of all states, the Uttarakhand chief secretary Om Prakash, director general (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar and Health secretary Amit Singh Negi were also present in the meeting.
