Defence minister & CM conduct Bhoomi Pujan at Sainya Dham

Defence minister Rajnath Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted Bhoomi Pujan at the Sainya Dham being constructed at Guniyalgaon here at a cost of Rs 63 crore. This event on Wednesday also marked the end of the Shaheed Samman Yatra.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that soil from the courtyards of the homes of martyred soldiers has been brought for the Sainya Dham which is being built as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the state government is executing this project as expected of it. Singh said that whoever visits Sainya Dham will get inspired from the tales of the courage of the martyrs. Calling Uttarakhand the land of the brave, he expressed grief at the demise of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat terming it a major loss for the nation. The Defence minister said that PM Modi had facilitated the grand reconstruction of Kedarnath. Under Modi’s leadership, the nation is once again being linked to its cultural roots. Singh reiterated that the central government is making all possible efforts to resolve the issues of soldiers, ex-servicemen and their family members. The long pending issue of one rank, one pension had been resolved by the government. The government will always be eager to do whatever is needed for the honour of soldiers, he said.

Singh said that road, train and rail connectivity has been expanded at a swift pace in Uttarakhand. The Dharchula-Lipulekh-Mansarovar route has also been made. This route is also very important from the cultural view. The Defence minister said that as per Modi’s commitment, India is about to become self reliant in spheres related to defence. The army is today positioned with full capacity on all fronts. Referring to the CM, Singh said that Dhami is not only a dashing batsman but also a sharp bowler while being an all rounder when it comes to development. Uttarakhand will be leading in all sectors under his leadership in 2024, said Singh. On receiving news of Group Captain Varun Singh’s demise, a two-minute silence was observed during the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Dhami recalled General Rawat’s work for the nation and concern for Uttarakhand’s development. He said that the stature of the nation’s army had risen under the leadership of Modi and Singh with the soldiers being given a free hand in dealing with enemies. Stating that soil from the homes of 1,734 martyrs had been brought to Sainya Dham, he said that this site will inspire the youth to serve the nation.

Union minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
