Govt to take all possible steps to maintain fairness & standards of recruitment exams: Dhami

In a major decision, the State cabinet has approved the proposal for transferring recruitment process underway for 7,000 posts from the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) to the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). Further, five recruitment exams of the UKSSSC for 770 posts have been cancelled. These and other decisions were taken in the meeting of the cabinet held here on Friday evening. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stressed that the State government will take all possible steps to maintain fairness and standards in the recruitment exams. For this purpose, the government has decided to get recruitment exams for 7,000 posts by the UKPSC. The CM has directed that a calendar of recruitment exams should be released soon and the recruitment process should be started. Dhami said that in addition to currently advertised posts, all departments should prepare a list of vacant posts for direct recruitment and submit it to the commission so that an advance calendar of future exams can be released too. According to official sources, in all such exams for which exams have been conducted by UKSSSC and results have been announced but the selection has not been completed, the remaining process will be undertaken by UKSSSC. In the exams for which UKSSSC has invited applications but not conducted any exam, candidates will not be charged application fees when the notice is published under the purview of UKPSC. The CM has stressed that to maintain the morale of the youth, getting the recruitment exams conducted soon by UKPSC and providing jobs to the youth is a top priority of the government. The government is committed to providing a healthy competitive environment to the unemployed youth, said Dhami.

Among the other decisions taken by the cabinet, it was decided that 50 per cent of the vacant posts of principal in government inter colleges will be filled through examination. Few remaining construction works in the Kedarnath will be undertaken by the agency which had worked in the past. Further, five Rajiv Gandhi Navoday Vidyalayas will be managed in society mode. The cabinet also gave its nod to opening Sainik schools in mountainous areas. The government will consider the availability of land and building for this purpose.

It is pertinent to mention here that the UKSSSC paper leak case has elicited strong criticism, raised serious questions and protests from youth aspiring to secure government jobs. The Special Task Force has so far arrested 35 persons accused in the case.
