Squalls & heavy rains forecast in various parts of State today

The State meteorological centre has issued orange and yellow warnings regarding thunderstorms with squalls and heavy rainfall with intense spells in five districts respectively on Wednesday. Apart fro this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms re likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State today. The meteorological centre has issued an organce warning (alert) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail and squalls (50-60 kmph gusting up to 70 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of the State on Wednesday. A yellow (watch) warning has also been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall with intense spells likely to occur at isolated places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness generally cloudy skies with one to two spells of light to moderate rainfall /thunderstorm accompanied with gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Wednesday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 37.3 degrees Celsius and 20.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39 degrees Celsius and 17.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26.7 degrees Celsius and 13.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.2 degrees Celsius and 15.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was also reported in some parts of the State on Tuesday with 16 millimetres in Song, 3.5 millimetres in Harshil, 2.5 millimetres in Kedarnath and 1.8 millimetres in Pithoragarh.
