Renowned radio announcer Ameen Sayani no more

The celebrated radio announcer who would keep the listeners enthralled for decades with his golden voice Ameen Sayani passed away in Mumbai at the age of 91. He was born in Mumbai in 1932.

Sharing details of his death which sent the Mumbai-based film industry into deep morning, his son Rajil Sayani said that he had been rushed to a private hospital after he complained of severe chest pain where he later succumbed to heart attack.

He shot into dizzy eminence thanks to his playing the role of announcer in the popular radio programme Binaca Geetmala which was also broadcasted on Radio Ceylon. Sources close to him said that he had produced and composed nearly 54,000 radio programmes. Besides, he appeared in a few popular movies like Bhoot Bungalow, Katil and Teen Devian.
