SPS formed in Nainital, welcomes NEP 2020

The public schools in Nainital and nearby areas have formed the Society of Private Schools here. The society has also appreciated various aspects of the new National Education Policy (NEP). On Monday, the society also announced its office bearers with Anil Sharma as its president, Kiran Jeremiah as its vice-president, Vinay Kar and Anita Kar as secretaries, Satyendra Singh Negi as joint secretary, Bhuwan Chandra Tripathi as treasury officer and Alok Sah as the PRO. Anupma Sah, Mark Medley, Neelu Elhans, Rakhi Sah and Alok Sah have been made its executive committee members.

Addressing the media, the society president and Birla Vidya Mandir principal Anil Sharma said that compared to the past, the new NEP is simple and creative which will assist in the all round development of the children. The NEP will have a positive impact on the students, he said, while adding that the public schools welcome this education policy. The society will organise a workshop to make the policy more effective, he said. Referring to the Covid-19 pandemic, he said that this had posed challenges for all. He said that most of the students in the public schools of Nainital had not deposited their fees with only about 25 per cent of the parents having paid the fees. Coordination between the school management and parents of the students can help resolve issues related to education, health and finance, he said, while adding that the guidelines of the government area awaited regarding reopening of the schools.

The society’s vice president and principal of All Saints’ College, Kiran Jeremiah said that preparations have been made for reopening of boarding and day schools. Don Bosco school managing director JK Chaddha stressed on the importance of better coordination between parents of the students and the school management during the Covid-19 pandemic.
