Rabi procurement season to start from April 1

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rekha Arya on Friday held a meeting with representatives of departments concerned to discuss the preparations for procurement of wheat for Rabi crops marketing season 2023-24 slated to start from April 1.

She said that the State currently has a storage capacity of 2.20 lakh metric tonnes and government organisations like Food Corporation of India (FCI), National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED), Uttarakhand Consumer Cooperative Union Limited among several others have opened purchase centers. She said that purchase centres are designated so that farmers do not have to sell their food items at low prices. Since the central government has announced the minimum support price for the procurement of Rabi crops,

Arya said that these bodies will ensure the farmers get fair price for their crops. The government has declared MSP for wheat as Rs 2,125 per quintal. The rabi procurement season will be from April 1 to June 30 and the department is also making constant efforts to ensure the farmers can sell their crops without any hassle.
