A car parked on the roadside near Ballupur Chowk suddenly caught fire on Sunday afternoon. The locals soon called the police and fire tenders. However, a big portion of the car was burnt and the nearby electric cables had caught fire by the time fire tenders reached there and extinguished the fire. The officials said that there was nobody in the car when it caught fire and the personnel doused the fire soon after reaching the spot.
Many have been claiming that the car caught fire due to the rising summer temperatures but the police said that these are just speculations. They said that it is possible the car caught fire due to some technical glitches like a short circuit or fuel leakage. The police are yet to ascertain the cause and have started the investigation, the officials added.
