After a two-day tour of Pauri, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed officials to prepare a special plan for the development of Pauri while pointing out the historic and cultural importance of Pauri along with its natural beauty to the officials. Taking cognisance of divisional offices not functioning in the Garhwal divisional headquarters at Pauri, he directed the secretary, CM/district in-charge to study and present a report in one week about the divisional offices which have or should have buildings in Pauri and are being conducted from Dehradun or other locations.
Dhami had a detailed tour of Pauri on February 12 and 13 during which he also launched the Antyodaya free gas refill scheme from Pauri apart from inaugurating and unveiling the foundation stones for various development works. While reviewing the tour with senior officials on Tuesday, he directed the officials to prepare a special plan for the development of Pauri and submit a report on which divisional level offices are not functioning from Pauri.
Pauri is important from historical and administrative point of view and was hence made the divisional headquarters of Garhwal division. With the passage of time, the functioning of divisional level offices began in Dehradun and other places instead of Pauri due to which the importance of the divisional headquarters also decreased. Considering such apathy towards Pauri, the CM issued necessary instructions to officials on completion of this tour. He has directed officials to work on facilitating development and reviving the earlier stature of Pauri.
