Police to operate various services from new Sardar Patel Bhawan

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the police department’s Sardar Patel Bhawan at Court Road here on Tuesday. He also inspected the dial 112 control room, video surveillance centre and other aspects of the building. The offices of various divisions of the police have been shifted to this building. Dhami also launched the police’s e-beat app and CEIR service portal for the people of Uttarakhand on the occasion.

Dhami said that with the inauguration of this building, the Police department will not face any inconvenience.The operation of dial 112 service from here will enable swift redressal of complaints and problems communicated by the general public. He said that the State government is committed to the welfare of police personnel and providing them residential and non-residential facilities. The government has made a provision of Rs 45 crore this year for construction of residential and non-residential buildings for the police, he said.

Dhami said that the e-beat app has been created for online solutions to various services related to the police and public, strengthening law and order, and making police work paperless. The government will ensure adequate budget in the future too for the development of the State police in addition to attempting to facilitate maximum budget for the department from Central schemes. Stating that the government is working to develop Uttarakhand police into smart police, he said that the aim is to further strengthen the police, make it more sensitive and technologically skilled.

Director general of police Ashok Kumar said that the Sardar Patel Bhawan is a multipurpose office building of Uttarakhand Police. In addition to the range office, the traffic directorate, SDRF training, fire services and emergency service along with other offices have been shifted to this building.More than 250 officers and employees are working in these divisions of the police, the DGP said.
