Poll campaign heats up in cold Joshimath

The cold weather is affecting the campaign by national parties in Joshimath city which is part of the Badrinath Assembly constituency. However, the snow and cold has not dampened the motivation to campaign as members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress are now focusing on door to door campaigning. With the campaign picking pace, the BJP women workers are trying to woo voters if 16 booths of all the wards while singing Bhajans and raising slogans while Congress and other BJP workers are trudging snow covered paths to campaign in villages to gain support for their respective candidates. The Congress has fielded former MLA Rajendra Bhandari while the BJP has fielded its sitting MLA Mahendra Bhatt in Badrinath constituency. The Congress workers are citing works done by the party’s state government in the past and the image of its candidate to elicit votes. The Aam Aadmi Party has also opened its election office in the city.
