Considering the traffic issues and parking conditions in the city, the Dehradun traffic police are working on creating an action plan with the help of recommendations and suggestions of experts and the general public of the city. The police recently started a campaign of open dialogue with the public to get their recommendations and suggestions through various social media platforms on how to tackle these issues across the city. According to the officials, the police are regularly receiving several such suggestions from the public. In order to ensure the practical execution of the agendas prepared on the basis of these suggestions, the Superintendent of Police (SP), traffic, Akshay Konde invited traffic management expert Pratap Singh Bhonsle who has 11 years of experience in the same field in the USA government. He has also shared his expertise on the subject with Maharashtra Police as a member of the Road Safety Advisory Association under the aegis of the World Bank. Bhonsle conducted a two-day survey on Thursday and Friday to understand the geographical location of all the main crossings and junctions of the city. He also reviewed the causes of traffic jams with the officials and also discussed the alternatives of modern technologies which can be used to tackle the issues to ensure smooth operation and enforcement along with qualitative improvement in the traffic system of the city. The SP said that a separate action plan is being prepared as per the suggestions of the public and the experts to improve the situation at the ground level through its proper execution across the city.
