Police to lay special focus on drug smuggling, street crime & land fraud: SSP

Ajai Singh assumes charge as Dehradun SSP 

Assuming charge as the Dehradun senior superintendent of police, Ajai Singh said that following the directions of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, working on the‘Drug-Free Devbhoomi-2025′ mission will be his top priority.

Addressing the media after assuming charge on Friday Singh said that in order to ensure maximum participation of the common people in the campaign being run against drug abuse, police chaupal will be organised in all the police station areas once a week on every Saturday to spread awareness about drug addiction among the common people. Apart from this, the phone number of the anti-narcotics task force formed to take effective action against drug abuse and smuggling at the district level will be circulated among the general public. Any person can provide any kind of information regarding drug smugglers on this number. The name of the person will be kept completely confidential, said Singh

The SSP said that efforts will be made to further improve the law and order situation in the district. Special focus will be laid on victim-oriented policing in all the police stations and it will be ensured that in the police stations, the police personnel maintain restraint in their behaviour with every victim who comes. The police will listen to the problems of the citizens properly and prompt action will be taken. The police will also focus especially on street crimes and strive to clamp down effectively on such crimes, he added.

“Effective action will be ensured against land-related fraud, which is one of the biggest problems in Dehradun district and action will be taken under the Gangster Act against the people who commit land-related frauds by forming organised gangs and their property will be confiscated.  Apart from this, the property acquired by such persons by illegally encroaching on government land will also be demolished in coordination with the department concerned,” said Singh.
