Police station to come up at encroached site in Vanbhulpura: CM

 In a significant decision aimed at giving a stern message to the encroachers the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that a police station will be constructed at the Vanbhulpura encroachment site. Violence had erupted in Haldwani town on February 8 when the administration started demolition of an illegal Madrasa in Vanbhulpura. The rioters torched the Vanbhulpura police station following which the police opened fire to control the situation. The CM made the declaration of constructing a police station at the site of illegal Madarsa while addressing a public meeting organised under the Nari Shakti Mahotsava programme at Rishikul ground of Haridwar on Monday.

 In the programme the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 158 development projects worth Rs 1,168 crore for Haridwar district.

The CM said that empowered women are the backbone of a strong society. He said that women played an important role in the creation of a separate State of Uttarakhand. Dhami said that the State government has given 30 per cent reservation in government jobs to the women of the State and has started schemes such as Mukhyamantri Nari Sashaktikaran Yojana, Mukhyamantri Mahalakshmi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana, Anchal Yojana and Poshan Abhiyan for the welfare and empowerment of women.

 In the programme the CM praised the Haridwar district administration for its project Tara in which the Anganwadi centres are developed for making the children mentally and physically strong. Under the project 150 Anganwadi centres have been equipped with smart TV, furniture and toys and training is being given to the Anganwadi workers under the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. More than 3,000 children and 300 anganwadi workers are directly benefited under the project. Dhami said that the state government has also started a project ‘sweet Ganga’ in Haridwar in which the local women will be linked with bee culture. The CM averred that the State government wants to dedicate the third decade of the century to women empowerment. 

 Dhami said that cultural resurrection of the country is happening under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the State government has prepared a proposal of constructing Haridwar and Rishikesh corridors. The Har ki Paidi corridor will be given international recognition on the lines of Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath and Mahakal corridors.

The CM also took out a massive road show from Devpura Chowk to Rishikul ground in Haridwar on the day.

Haridwar MP and former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank,  Rajya Sabha MPs Naresh Bansal, Kalpana Saini, district Panchayat president Rajendra Chaudhary and others were present on the occasion.
