Police prohibit entry of heavy vehicles in Udham Singh Nagar ahead of President’s arrival

Entry of all heavy vehicles from inter-state and inter-district borders will remain prohibited in Udham Singh Nagar district from Monday morning till further orders in view of the proposed arrival of President Droupadi Murmu in the district on November 7. According to the police, Murmu is scheduled to visit the district’s Rudrapur and Pantnagar areas on Tuesday.  and considering safety reasons and ensuring proper traffic management, heavy vehicles will not be allowed entry to the district from 7 AM on Monday till further orders. The police said that no vehicle will be parked on the contingency route and the heavy vehicles will remain where they are till further orders. However, the police will allow the movement of vehicles providing essential services like supply of milk, oil tankers and ration, among others with proper checking. They said that entry of heavy vehicles will be completely prohibited on routes near the district SS Hospital in Sitarganj, Sarkada border, Bara Chowki, Pulbhatta border, Lalpur toll tax, Aditya Chowk near Intarc Factory, Kichha, Rampur border, Mahtosh turn, Motiyapur, Dineshpur turn and Rudrapur. The senior superintendent of police of Udham Singh Nagar Manjunath TC has appealed to the operators of the heavy vehicles to comply with rules and stated that strict legal action will be taken against violators under relevant acts for the non-compliance. It is pertinent to mention here that the President will be on a three-day visit to the State from November 7. She is also expected to visit Dehradun after Udham Singh Nagar for which the Dehradun district administration has started making preparations along with the police.

It is pertinent to mention here that during her Uttarakhand tour, the President is slated to attend the 35th convocation of the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, offer prayers in Badrinath, attend the convocation of HNB Garhwal Central University and attend the State foundation day parade in Dehradun.
