Police nab four men for stealing equipment from mobile towers

Dehradun police arrested four interstate gang members on charges of stealing parts and equipment of mobile towers to sell them at higher prices in countries like Malaysia and Singapore. The senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar said in a Press conference here on Tuesday that the police received a complaint that some equipment from a mobile tower in the Bidholi area was stolen.

The respective company came to know about it after mobile service suddenly stopped in the area. The complainant filed an FIR in the Premnagar police station and a police team started the investigation under the supervision of SP (Crime) Sarvesh Panwar and SP (City) Sarita Dobhal. He said that the police identified the accused with the help of CCTV cameras installed in the area and electronic surveillance. The police finally nabbed four suspects on Monday who confessed to committing such crimes in various districts including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. They have also stolen similar equipment from mobile towers from other districts of the State too, as per SSP.

He said that such equipment cannot be sold in the country due to their registration number here due to which, the gang steal them to sell them in Malaysia and Singapore where these are sold reportedly at higher prices. He said that the police will present the accused before the court soon. The SSP also announced to reward the police team with Rs 25,000.
