Police investigating brutal killing of stray dog in Doon

The police are investigating the case wherein a stray dog was killed brutally in Dehradun. Animal rights activists had lodged an FIR in the case. Activist Nallini Trikha Taneja said that they were called by the police on Wednesday for further investigation in the case. She said that the accused were being questioned by the police.It is pertinent to mention here that animal rights activists are demanding the arrest of the accused for killing a stray dog in Chandrabani area of Dehradun on February 13. Taneja alleged that a local public representative had offered a bottle of liquor to a person for killing the dog. She said that the activists lodged an FIR in Patelnagar police station under various sections of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act on Tuesday against the accused. Taneja averred that she and her team were threatened by the accused when confronted about the alleged crime. Meanwhile, the local residents averred that the dog had earlier bitten one of the children. The residents said that they had witnessed the accused person killing the dog. Earlier on Tuesday, a demonstration and candle march was held from Clock Tower to Gandhi Park seeking justice in the case.
