24 injured after bus falls off the road

A total of 24 passengers were injured when the bus they were travelling in fell down the road between Chandel bridge and Bhimgauda trijunction early on Thursday morning. The Roadways bus was plying with a total of 35 passengers from Tanakpur to Rishkesh via Cheela when the mishap occurred. The police rescued the injured persons with the help of local residents and admitted to the nearest hospital in haridwar.

According to information provided by the police, the Cheela police post received information that an Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) bus with license plate number UK 07 PA 3083 fell into a gorge near Bhimgauda after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The mishap occurred at about 5 AM on Thursday. Acting on the information received, the police post in-charge sub inspector S Semwal along with personnel from the Lakshman Jhula police station reached the site of the mishap. The police personnel rescued the 24 injured passengers with the help of the local residents. The injured persons were taken by ambulance to a hospital in Haridwar for treatment of their injuries.
