Health Dept becomes active to combat seasonal diseases

Following the concern raised by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami the Health department has entered an active mode to control the vector borne diseases, viral fever and Chikungunya. The secretary in-charge of the Health department, R Rajesh Kumar has sent a letter to the chief medical officers (CMOs) of the State and asked them to take proper steps to control the spread of the diseases. He said that the awareness campaign should be undertaken among the general public so that the water does not remain accumulated in and around houses.

Kumar said that the team of the health department in coordination with municipal bodies and other departments should conduct door to door visits to engage in source reduction activities. He suggested that sanitation fortnight should be observed and all government offices, institutes and premises should be kept free from the Aedes mosquito which is a vector of dengue disease. In the letter, the Secretary in charge has also directed the CMOs to set up separate dengue, and Chikungunya wards in the hospitals. He also asked the officers to maintain the testing facilities and stock of medicines.
