The Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda flagged off the party’s Vijay Sankalp Yatra from Haridwar in the presence of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and other senior party leaders on Saturday. This Yatra will cover about 4,500 kilometres in the state till January 5 next year publicising works done by the State government with the assistance of the Central government.

Speaking on the occasion, Nadda said that considering the public response it is clear that the BJP is going to form the government with a resounding majority once again in Uttarakhand as the public has already made up its mind. He said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double engine government in Uttarakhand has set new precedents in development with projects worth more than Rs one lakh crore being approved for the state. Work is underway on Rs 700 crore Kedarnath project while various works have been done in different spheres. The construction of the Char Dham all-weather road is also in its final stage.”

Targetting the Congress, he said that the demand for one rank, one pension (OROP) had been pending since 1972 but the Congress did nothing to resolve it while the Modi government implemented the scheme without delay.  A sum of about Rs 48,000 crore has been released under it so far and more than 1.5 lakh families of servicemen have benefitted from the OROP scheme in Uttarakhand alone. Nadda said that Modi had strengthened national security with various steps ranging from procurement of Rafale fighter jets and other modern equipment to expediting infrastructure development in the border areas.

In Uttarakhand, the villages with 250 population are also being linked under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to the all weather road. Works is also progressing on the ambitious Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line while work on various other aspects is also ongoing under the cooperative development scheme. “While the double engine government is setting new benchmarks in development, the opposition leaders are unable to see development as they lack the vision. The nation has become very strong but the opposition has become weaker. They should not impose their weakness on the nation, said Nadda. He also spoke in detail about various aspects related to Uttarakhand and nation on the occasion.
