Rainy spell to continue in various parts of State today

Light to moderate rain was experienced in various mountainous regions of the State on Saturday. The maximum temperatures have dropped a few notches below normal in various places. Similar weather is expected on Sunday with the State meteorological centre forecasting light to moderate rain/thunderstorms likely to occur at few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh district and very light to light rain/thunderstorms likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri and Almora districts today. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Almora and Pithoragarh districts. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. Light rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 35.5 degrees Celsius and 22.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.6 degrees Celsius and 22.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.7 degrees Celsius and 8.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in various places with 27.5 millimetres in Jakholi, 12.5 millimetres in Koti, 11.5 millimetres in Ukhimath, 5.2 millimetres in New Tehri, four millimetres in Auli and trace rain in Pantnagar and Mussoorie.
