Over 5,000 apply on HOPE for employment opportunities

More than 5,000 people of Dehradun district have registered for employment opportunities in the Helping Out People Everywhere (HOPE) portal in the last six months. As per the data provided by the district administration, the number of applicants registering in the portal from rural areas for employment opportunities is more than the local applicants from the urban areas of the district. Since May, there are around 3,190 registrations from rural areas and over 1,966 registrations from urban areas of both skilled and unskilled professionals. In the portal, an applicant has to register under skilled or unskilled professional so that the administration can offer appropriate employment opportunities to all applicants. So far, there are around 3,671 registrations under skilled professionals and about 1,484 applicants are registered under unskilled professionals out of total applicants of rural and urban areas in the district. The officials informed that the applications are sent regularly to the departments concerned for the employment opportunities in which the applicants have shown their interest. However, most of the applicants have shown their interest through registrations in the fields of tourism and horticulture as per the officials. Further, the officials from these departments contact the applicants and learn about their work plan in detail. They also inform them about the available options and explain the norms which must be fulfilled by each applicant.

It is pertinent to mention here that most of these employment opportunities in the portal are being provided under Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana (MSY) to help the migrants who returned to Uttarakhand due to Covid-19 pandemic and lost their jobs. However the officials have stated that anyone can register in the portal for the employment opportunities.
