After a few days’ brief respite from heavy rain, parts of the State are likely to witness heavy rain and intense spells on Sunday. The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Bageshwar districts today.
The centre has also issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State on Sunday. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Further, heavy rain is likely to occur in some areas. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Saturday with 15.5 millimetres in Kiccha, 10 millimetres in Lansdowne, 6.5 millimetres in Dhanolti and four millimetres in Dehradun.
