DRT settles cases involving Rs 400 crore in 4 Lok Adalats

The national Lok Adalat was held at Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Dehradun under the chairmanship of presiding officer Umesh Kumar Sharma along with secretary/registrar Yogesh Kumar, assistant registrar Kanhaiya Kumar, recovery officers RP Singh and Hemant Kotial and other staff of the tribunal.

The tribunal had started the groundwork for the national Lok Adalat just after the last Lok Adalat held on November 12 last year. A total of about 80 cases were taken up on Saturday and out of these about 70 cases were settled and disposed of involving public money amounting to approximately Rs 66 crore.

The presiding officer also asked the bankers and borrowers to come forward for such amicable settlements in future also. Registrar Yogesh Kumar informed that this was the fourth Lok Adalat under the chairmanship of Sharma during this FY 2022-23. Cases involving more than Rs 400 crore were settled in these four Lok Adalats, he added.
