One dead, two hurt after boulders crush car on Badrinath highway

A woman pilgrim died on the spot when boulders fell on the vehicle she was travelling in on the Badrinath national highway. The incident occurred near Patalganga on the national highway on Monday. Two other persons in the vehicle were extricated from the wreckage of the vehicle jointly by the State Disaster Response Force and the police. The two injured persons were sent to the medical centre for treatment.

According to officials, boulders fell on a vehicle near Patalganga at about 8:30 AM. On receiving information, the Jyotirmath police and SDRF personnel reached the site of the mishap. Police station officer Devendra Rawat informed that the vehicle was struck by boulders falling from the mountain when the people inside it were returning from Badrinath. A woman identified as Shilpa (36) died on the spot while two other injured identified as Ankit Lal and Khwaish (10) were extricated from the vehicle and sent for treatment. The persons are reported to be from Haryana.
