Nurses adamant on work boycott

Talks with secretary in-charge Pankaj Pandey failed to break the ice

After the director general (DG) state health services, the secretary in charge of the state health department has failed to persuade the angry nurses to take back their agitation. On Wednesday, a delegation of association of nurses was invited by the secretary in charge, Pankaj Kumar Pandey for a dialogue. The talks however proved inconclusive with the association of nurses sticking to their stand of work boycott. The association has threatened to take mass leave on September 21 and decided to go on a work boycott from September 30 if their issues are not resolved.

In support of their nine point demands the nurses are sporting black arm bands while working and have threatened to further intensify their agitation.

The president of association, Meenakshi Jakhmola said that the talks with the secretary in charge Pankaj Pandey were held in a very cordial atmosphere but the nurses have decided that they would only suspend their agitation after the Government Order (GO) for their demands is released. The nurses want that their salary should not be deducted since they are at the forefront of the war against the Covid-19 pandemic. They also want pay parity with the pharmacists and increase in promotional avenues.
