No increase in public transport fares in U’khand

The State Transport Authority (STA) has denied the proposal of increasing the fares of public transportation in Uttarakhand.

The secretary of STA and deputy commissioner of the department, Sanat Kumar Singh informed that one of the reasons for the refusal is that the committee headed by the regional transport officer (administration) of Dehradun, Dinesh Chandra Pathoi covered mostly the nearby areas of Dehradun in the proposal neglecting several other areas, especially of the Kumaon region. There were some factors by other transportation associations that did not agree to some points too.

Due to this and other factors, the STA has formed a new committee that includes the regional transport officers from Almora, Haldwani and Pauri too. “The new committee will make a new proposal considering all the factors in the next STA meeting in about a month,” added Singh.
