The Kumaon Garhwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) hailed the decision taken at the State cabinet meeting held on February 21 providing for the builders- now engaged in constructing houses on over 5000 square meters of land under the Centre-sponsored housing scheme for the economically unprivileged people- to deposit 15 percent of the funds required in the shelter fund instead of building houses themselves for the economically weaker section (EWS) people.
As per the cabinet decision, the authorities would construct such houses themselves with the money to be deposited by the builders. The KGCCI office bearers said on Thursday that they were grateful to the Pushkar Singh Dhami government for heeding the appeal made by KGCCI in December last at its meeting in Kashipur. They further said that this decision would help the builders complete their held-up colony/ township projects expeditiously.
