The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has floated a tender worth Rs five crore to carry out patchwork of roads in all 100 wards to make the city pothole-free. The Dehradun municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal said that the corporation has been receiving several complaints of damaged roads and potholes across the city which occurred mainly due to the excessive rain this year. The locals have been facing problems on a daily basis, especially while driving vehicles at night. Considering these complaints, the commissioner directed the executive engineer of the corporation to start the tender process to commence patchwork of all the damaged roads in all wards. Goyal said that MCD will launch a drive to make the city pothole-free and after the tender process, the selected agency will work in all wards simultaneously. He said that as per the current plan, the corporation will be spending about Rs five lakh for the repairing work of damaged roads in each ward. He said that MCD will ensure that the repair work gets finished in the city soon after the completion of the tender process. The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ also said that the corporation is taking all possible steps to ensure that common people do not have to face inconvenience on roads. The whole city will be pothole free soon with this initiative of MCD, he added.
