BJP MPs to tour Assembly constituencies

Stepping up its organisational activities, the BJP will organise tours of its MPs in the Vidhan Sabha seats which the party had lost in the last election and seminars of its SC-ST public representatives. In an informal interaction with media persons here on Sunday, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the party will undertake two important programmes during November.

For the second time this year, the MPs will tour the Vidhan Sabha constituencies where the party had lost in order to secure more than 60 per cent votes from these segments. Elected public representatives and party office bearers concerned will also be present. The booths from where the party lost will be identified, the voters list will be revised and party workers will be accorded responsibility for each booth, Bhatt said. As per the schedule fixed by the party, Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will tour Haridwar Rural, Khanpur and Jwalapur constituencies on November 6-7-8, Garhwal MP Teerath Singh Rawat will tour Dwarahat, Badrinath and Almora constituencies on November 7-8-16, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal will tour Bhagwanpur, Manglaur, Piran Kaliyar and Bazpur constituencies on November 8-9-15-16 while Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt will tour Khatima, Nanakmatta, Kichha and Haldwani constituencies on November 15-16-17. Similarly, Almora MP Ajay Tamta will tour Lohaghat, Dharchula and Pithoragarh constituencies on November 6-7-8, Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini will tour Jhabrera, Laksar and Jaspur constituencies on November 6-7-8 and Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah will tour Pratapnagar, Yamunotri and Chakrata constituencies on November 8-7-16 respectively.

The BJP State president further informed that in order to expand the party’s presence among the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe communities, programmes will be organised in the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. The party’s elected public representatives including MPs, MLAs, mayors, Panchayat heads and members, councillors from these communities along with party office bearers of its SC ST cells will attend these programmes. The SC convention for Garhwal region will be held in Dehradun on November 19 while the ST convention will be held on November 20. Similarly, the SC convention for Kumaon region will be held in Haldwani on November 21, informed Bhatt.
