Himalayan Culture Centre set to be inaugurated

As part of the inauguration of the newly built Himalayan Culture Centre, the Uttarakhand State department of culture will organise a cultural festival from July 7 to 10 in Dehradun. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and many other senior officials will attend the festival.

The director of the State department of culture, Beena Bhatt said that  in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Culture, the centre will have a large auditorium with a seating capacity of 832, an amphitheatre,  a museum, outdoor and indoor art gallery, a  library and a conference hall. 

She further informed that the cultural festival will include an exhibition of the paintings to promote the fine arts of the State. “Apart from this, some eminent film personalities who are originally from Uttarakhand will participate in the festival,” Bhatt said.

Moreover, there would be a book exhibition involving folk literature and folk language at the festival, she said and added that the newly built cultural centre will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. “Besides, it will reflect the State government’s unflinching commitment to the preservation and promotion of the State’s unique culture. It is also an important step towards passing on our cultural heritage to the future generations,” she said.

The centre will house a large museum where many artifacts and sculptures will be kept. “These will display our traditional and contemporary art forms,” she added.
