The left parties have demanded that the State government should immediately annul the amendments incorporated in the land laws in the year 2018 and 2022. A meeting of the three left parties, CPI, CPI -M and CPI- ML was organised at the state office of CPI-M on Tuesday.

In the meeting the leaders said that in the year 2018, the BJP government headed by Trivendra Singh Rawat had amended the Uttarakhand land laws which allowed the outsiders to buy as much land as they want for industrial purposes. It also ensured that no land use change was needed for such a land.

The left party leaders said that the provision that the buyer will use the land only for which it has been purchased was there in the amendment of 2018 but another amendment in the year 2022, removed this provision as well.

The left parties leaders also demanded that a government should release a white paper on the land sold for the industrial purposes and the industrial units established on them. CPI leader Samar Bhandari, state secretary of CPI-M Rajendra Singh Negi, state secretary of CPI-ML Indresh Maikhuri and others participated in the meeting.
