In latest Dehradun news, the State government has decided to provide subsidy ranging from Rs 50 lakh to Rs four crore by way of incentive for firms setting up micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in the mountainous terrains of the State. The just-held cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved the new MSME policy. Importantly, the State government will provide 10 per cent additional subsidy to the firms which will use the local raw materials in their manufacturing process.  Besides, as per the new MSME policy, the State is divided into four categories instead of the earlier five. The areas in the remotest hill locations will be included in the category A while category B would comprise mountainous districts which are less remote and categories C and D would include the plain districts. For the firms setting up projects under category A, the subsidy amount would range from Rs 50 lakh to Rs four crore while for the firms setting up projects under category B, the subsidy amount would range from Rs 40 lakh to Rs three crore. The subsidy amounts would range from Rs 30 lakh to Rs two crore for the firms setting up projects under category C and the subsidy would range from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore for firms setting up projects under category D.

While speaking of the new MSME policy, the State chief secretary S S Sandhu said that an additional 10 per cent subsidy would be provided to the firms setting up MSME projects based on raw materials collected from the mountain areas like fruit processing unit, winery unit and pirul-based unit.   He further informed that only the manufacturing units can avail the subsidies as contained in the new MSME policy.
