Police nab army officer for woman’s murder in Raipur

In latest news from Dehradun, police said that they have got some crucial clues in course of investigation into the suspected murder of a woman in Raipur police station limit of Dehradun.  Police further said they might unravel the case soon. Sources in police department privy to the investigation said that the it was a love triangle murder case and one of the accused has been identified. It is further learnt that the deceased woman was identified and she was of Nepali origin. Notably, the body of an unidentified woman with multiple injuries was had been found on roadside.   

Updates came in afternoon w police claimed to have cracked the case and arrested a lieutenant colonel of the army identified as Ramendu Upadhyaya (42) in connection with the murder. As per police, the murdered woman was a bar dancer in City Centre Mall in Siliguri in north Bengal and there the two met.  As their relation deepened, they started living as husband and wife. Later Upadhyaya was transferred to Dehradun and he came to Dehradun along with the woman. As she came to know that he was married, she was sent back to Siliguri. But she was brought back to Dehradun again and a flat was rented for her in Clement Town, Dehradun. But as she started pressing the army officer for marriage, the latter hatched a conspiracy to do away with her. Acting on the plan, he made her drink a lot of beer in his car and then he hit hammer on her head. After she died, he poured toilet cleaner on her body to burn it and dumped the body and hammer on road.
