Minister wants employment exchanges to become outsourcing agency

Saturday, 21 May 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

On the initiative of the Skill development Minister Saurabh Bahuguna the State government is planning to make the employment exchanges as outsourcing agencies. The minister has made a plan to revive the employment exchanges which now have become more or less redundant and are acting only as registration centres for the unemployed.

Bahuguna took a review meeting with the officers of the department at his office in Vidhan Sabha on Friday  and discussed his plan. He said that the department has 23 offices and 8.5 Lakh registered unemployed. Bahuguna discussed the plan to make the department an outsourcing agency and directed that a proposal in this regard should be prepared.  Bahuguna said that the proposal would be brought before the state cabinet for approval. It is worth mentioning here that the employment exchange used to act as an outsourcing agency for the government but in the last 12 years this practice has remained stopped. The government relies on the Uttarakhand Purva sainik kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) and Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) for providing employees on outsourcing.

The meeting was attended by secretary  of Skill Development and Employment, Vijay Yadav, Law secretary Dhananjay Chaturvedi, director of Employment BS Chalal and others.
