In latest news from Dehradun, the meteorological centre in Dehradun has issued yellow alert, forecasting rain and snow in large swathe of the State on January 31 and February 1. Sharing details, the director of the centre Vikram Singh said that while it would rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in the plains the mountainous areas would record snowfall for these two days. He further said that the first week of February might see more of such spells of western disturbance-spawned rain and snow, adding that subsequently the mercury might drop and settle at the normal.
